G’day! I’m Steve, but you can call me Steve.
This blog sets out to answer the one question that has baffled scientists since the dawn of time;
“What IS a Browne Town?”
I am Steve Browne, creator of The Browne Town and former McDonald’s employee of the week.
I have 12 dreams, 7 holes and 0 idea what I’m doing with my life. If you’re here, chances are you’re wasting your life as well. Let’s go on pretending that you aren’t though, for the time being.

I solemly swear that I’m (up to) no good… at Photoshop
This is simply a platform for me to share knowledge (or lack thereof).
That could come in the form of a travel guide to a destination I have been to, a comparison of competing products, a review of something I have purchased, or something that I myself have struggled to find information on and feel it is worth sharing.
Unlike most people, I enjoy humour. I also enjoy fixing things, or at least taking the credit for having done so. I like learning new things, sometimes even enjoying doing hours of research. These hours of research may prove useful to others.
Originally I wanted to create a travel blog about my adventures swimming through Mt. Everest, or climbing the Amazon Jungle. I see myself as somewhat of a great explorer or pioneer, like Christopher Colombus and Cap’n Crunch before me.
Now though, the idea is just to share information in general, I guess there will still be travel stuff here but it will vary. Use the menu up the top to navigate. I have tried to sort things into logical categories.
I won’t ask you to join my newsletter, because I hate those annoying pop-ups … and also I don’t have time to write a newsletter.
Videos
I also have my Youtube channel where I release videos related to all of the stuff you see here. In fact there’s more content there then there is in this blog.

About Me
If I look somewhat untrustworthy to you, you’re probably not far from the truth. I’d steal your fancy cutlery in a heartbeat.

Travel
Unlike most people, I like to travel.
If you want to read about it then you’ve come to the right place. I have been to some places and not written up anything about them because it was either before I started the blog, or I don’t feel like I spent enough time there to justify writing a travel guide.
But the rest of it you can find below.
Activity Guides
These aren’t about where to eat, what accommodation to stay at or any of that. It’s all about the things you do that make travel worth while, the activities!
Destination Guides
The destination guides are more suited to the actual day-to-day travel things, like gyms, laundry, food, currency, accommodation, locations and how to actually get there.
Hiking
Walking can be one of the best things to do overseas or even in your own backyard!
See some of the better hikes (or climbs) that I have done.
Travel Resources
Think packing lists, climate guides, travel health, visa requirements etc.
That’s the intent of this category.
Cars & Camping
During COVID as my international travel was rudely interrupted, I looked inward towards more local travel.
Throughout the process I ended up purchasing a 4WD, which I then spent the next two and a half years building into a touring vehicle to one day travel around Australia.
In here are some of the results of my research as well as documenting what I did to the car and sharing experiences and product reviews as I go.
Comparison Posts
As I looked for more gear I inevitably began compare things to make easier purchasing decisions.
See the comparisons here and benefit from my research.
4WD Build
Different steps and considerations that you can look at if you’re building a 4WD to go touring.
Also including a post covering all my costs.
12 Volt
A tricky thing to get your head around, I’ve covered a few different parts of the 12 volt system.
Content Creation
Everything to do with the gear I use to post these blogs, edit videos, capture audio, take photos or whatever else falls into the work done to produce the Youtube channel and the blog.

Hi guys, if you feel generous and feel that I’ve been of some help to you then please feel free to reach out and show some support.
Don’t put yourself out if you’re flat broke but if you have something to share it’s so much appreciated and helps support this blog.
The content you find here will always be free but it takes literally hundreds of hours of my time every month to maintain and write posts for.
Thank you for any support!
