How to get to Siquijor from Oslob – Brief version
I don’t like posts that blab on about nothing, so below here is the brief rundown for those wanting to know how to get from Oslob to Siquijor in a nutshell.
After this portion I will start going into more detail but I appreciate some people just want to know the basics.
- Make your way to either Liloan Santander or Liloan Fastcraft ports on the southern end of Cebu island.
- Catch a ferry from either of these two Liloan ports to a port on the island of Negros called Sibulan.
- Get in a tricylce from Sibulan to Dumaguete port.
- Get a ferry from Dumaguete to Siquijor.
- Done.
It’s as simple as that really. For more detailed information on how to get from Oslob to Siquijor, see below.
The Method of Getting From Oslob to Siquijor
Some of you will be done at this point as getting from Oslob to Siquijor is pretty self explanatory with the above steps, but for those who want the finer details I will break down the steps here with costs and rough travel times.
Some legs of the journey involve a few different options so I will cover them here as well.
Step 1 – Getting to Liloan Ports
First step of getting from Oslob to Siquijor is getting to the south of Cebu island, there are two ports here that are the final destination, which one you go to is up to you.
How to get to the Liloan Ports?
You have two main options:
- Bus.
- Tricycle.
The third option would be a private car, but you hardly need instruction on organising that.
Bus
The bus is cheaper, you will be looking for the Ceres liner buses, they’re bright yellow like the one pictured below.

This bus runs around the ring road that goes around Cebu island.
There are a few different routes as you can see in the image below, but the one that is relevant for getting to Siquijor from Oslob is the CSBT (Cebu Southern Bus Terminal) to Bato via Oslob.
This bus will travel south past Oslob, around the southern tip of Cebu island, at which point you disembark at the Liloan ports, then to Bato on the southwest of the island.

You can hail this bus from the side of the road, just make sure you’re on the right side of the road for the direction that you want to travel.
There are AC buses and non-AC buses which will drive around with the windows down. These tend to alternate, but that can’t be guaranteed. Each bus will come every 15 minutes.
Yes I know the picture above says every 30 but I have been there and it’s every 15 minutes as per the schedule shown below (some routes are 30, some 15, the route we want is 15).

I can’t tell you the cost, as it depends how far along this road your accommodation is, but it is dirt cheap. For example, I went from CSBT to Oslob in the air-conditioned bus for only ₱272!
I estimate the journey will cost you ~₱50 or thereabouts.
Tricycle
For those that don’t know, a tricycle is just a motorbike taxi with a sidecar. You can arrange this the previous day with a driver or just flag one down on the side of the road.
This is what I took to get to Liloan ports, it was just easier for me to prearrange and not try time the bus.
The cost for me was ₱300 which is a lot more than the bus but it was more convenient for me.
Step 2 – Taking a ferry from Liloan to Sibulan
The next part of getting to Siquijor from Oslob is getting one of two ferries that leave from the southern end of Cebu.

If you are wondering whether you can get directly from Cebu to Siquijor, you can, I’ll explain that in a little bit but the majority of people will take the route that we’re about to explain now.
The most important thing to know is that both of these ferries will be going to the same place. They just have different schedules but the price is basically the same.
Liloan Santander is a cargo ship ferry and leaves every hour and a half. This is your only option if you are hoping to transport a scooter or a car but obviously it also takes passengers.
Liloan fastcraft is a small vessel. It leaves roughly every hour. It is supposedly faster than the large cargo ship but having taken both I can tell you that it’s not that big of a difference really.
So in this section of how to get from Oslob to Siquijor I’ll just breakdown these two modes of transport a little bit further in case you have a preference or are still confused.
Liloan Santander

The Liloan Santander Port is the one that has a larger ferry. It is for cargo but also takes passengers.
This is my preferred method of getting from Liloan to the port of Sibulan on the island of Negros. This ferry leaves less frequently, every hour and a half as you can see from the schedule below.

This ferry is larger, there is more room to move about because of its size. It is not as rough a ride in rough seas, it is very stable boat and there is a lot of open air and space to move around. It is more comfortable.
This ferry is notoriously late. It hardly ever if ever leaves on schedule as it is loading cars and motorbikes.
This very took me 35 minutes from departure to arrival at the next port for a cost of ₱130.

The page on the left is the ferry most people will take, note the page on the right goes to Larena port at 2 am which is discussed further down in this post as an alternative way to get to Siqujor from Oslob.
Liloan Fastcraft

The Liloan fastcraft is a smaller ferry as you can see from the image above.
This ferry is more likely to leave on time. The delays are normally only a handful of minutes as opposed to 10 to 15 minutes with the other ferry.
The prices are basically the same but as you can see from the schedule below there are a few more departures per day.

Having taken both of these ferries, I found this one to be cramped and uncomfortable. It was also very hot in the dry season with not much airflow as opposed to the other ferry which is very large and gives you room to move around.
This ferry is quicker though taking me 26 minutes to make the journey from Sibulan to Liloan.

Which one is better?
I personally would prefer the larger ferry, however I wouldn’t wait around for it if it wasn’t leaving any time soon.
As the journey is roughly half an hour on either vessel, I’ll just take whichever one is leaving soonest however if they were leaving at the same time I would go on the larger ferry.
A lot of the time you arrive just when you arrive and then you take whatever is leaving next. You don’t often plan and arrive perfectly on time for the ferry that you want to take.
The fast ferry was a little bit faster however it was very uncomfortable until it started moving and then you got some airflow but you can’t get up and move around or stand up and it gets very humid.
How to get from Liloan to Siquijor directly?
Remember above how I said that you can take a ferry directly from Liloan to Siquijor?
Although this is true, it won’t apply to most people as it is simply too impractical. To do this you want to go to Liloan Santander Port which is the port with the larger cargo ferry.
There is a ferry that leaves at 2 am every day from Liloan directly to Siquijor which will save you a lot of time catching tricycles and more ferries between Dumaguete and Siquijor.
This ferry goes to a different port on the island of Siquijor. It does not go to Siquijor Central port. It goes to a port called Larena which is just to the north east. You’ll have to make your way to your accommodation which is probably going to be a little bit of a further trip.
If by chance you are making the journey on a Sunday this ferry is a good option to take because it leaves at 7 am which is a more reasonable time to catch the ferry.
Every other day of the week it is quite impractical and you are better off just taking the method that is outlined in this post about how to get from Oslob to Siquijor.

Step 3 – Getting to Dumaguete port
This next step is pretty easy. There will be tricycles waiting for you as you get off the ferry and they will take you from Sibulan Port to Dumaguete Port.
This tricycle will cost you ₱ 250 and will take anywhere from 16 to 26 minutes depending on what time of day you are attempting to do the journey.

Step 4 – Ferry from Dumaguete to Siquijor
The tricycle driver will drop you off at the ferry ticket booth building.
This part of the journey will be different for everyone because it really depends on what time you get to this building and what is the next available ferry.
Below is a series of images just giving you an example of how many different journeys and different ferry operators are in operation.
I took the ferry with Anika Star purely because it was leaving in about 20 minutes from when I arrived and all the others involved waiting over an hour.
The ferry took one hour from Dumaguete port to Siquijor port. It was comfortable and air-conditioned.
The cost of this ferry was ₱310.
When you arrive, you simply walk down the hallway and you find the ferry that best suits your times. I don’t think there’s much difference in comfort levels or speed of transport.
Summary
Now you know how to get from Oslob to Siquijor.
It isn’t a hard journey, although to me it seems weird that there are no direct ferries. This is just the way that it works for now.
As always the information shown in this post is only relevant at the time that it is posted and that the photos are taken.
If you are unsure about anything I recommend riding down to the ferry port the day before your journey to doublecheck all the times and what options are available to you.
