Hey!

Sorry for the super late replies but I don’t check the website much, spend most of my time on Youtube these days.

You’re right, but unfortunately I didn’t want the 2100mm extra cab tray which is all that they offered. What I have now is 1800 long base with 1500mm canopy, nobody else was offering this custom build, they all just sold what was already within their catalogs.

Cheers.

Really well written article and week thought out research though mate, has given me some great reading. Thank you!

Thanks mate,

I went and looked at TLX in person and couldn’t complain about the quality of the builds but for me it was disappointing that they didn’t compete with companies from over east once the shipping was taken out of the equation. I actually got my canopy shipped here for cheaper than they could have provided, but in the end it was all a moot point as I wanted a shorter length tray and am an owner of an extra cab, not a dual cab.

This really only left me with one choice when it came to getting a custom build.

I will probably look to TLX in the future for the drawer/table combos that they offer and possible a shelf in the future depending on the weights and costs and how I want to build out the inside. It will depend on cost and weight vs. competitors and also how quickly I can get my hands on things. I an also leaning towards their Bushman fridge cage as it appears a bit lighter than the others that I have seen and they’re all the same price.

I have a video being released on the 30th (Youtube channel should be linked in the sidebar) that gives a brief overview of the canopy, but isn’t a full review as I have yet to test it properly or build out the inside how I want it.

Probably the best write up of canopies online, a brilliant resource for the novice and experienced alike. Thanks for the time you’ve put in and for sharing openly.
I’ve always tried to buy local myself too, but after having a succession of shoddy work by various different ‘trades’ on my custom build I will actively be shopping interstate now for my next project. Having said that I have been to TLX 4×4 a few times and the guys there are professional and helpful. They would be in the running based on that and the quality of the product, but like you weight and cost are big factors for my next build.
Would love to see your rig in person or have some images etc of your setup. Cheers, Dan.
